Guide
How to use Matin
An admin sets it up once. After that, managers read their morning DM and everyone else chats as usual.
Setting up
An admin at your company does the first setup, once.
Sign in to the admin console
The service is not open yet. Leave your email with “Waitlist” on this site. The admin console opens after launch.
Create the workspace
Choose the company name, address (for example yourcompany.matin.team), region, language, and time zone. Your team joins at this address, and it can't be changed later.
Install the desktop app
Install the Buzz desktop app (Windows / macOS) from “Download” on the screen. If Windows shows a warning, choose “More info” and then “Run anyway”.
Join as the admin
In the app, choose “Join a community” and paste the invite link shown in the admin console. It works once, for 30 days. After you join, the bot sends you a welcome DM.
Wait for launch
The service is not open yet. The admin console and payment come after launch. Until then, the waitlist only keeps an email address.
Tell your employees
Before you invite the team, tell employees that an AI agent reads channels. We give you a notice template.
Invite your team
Send employees the link made with “Create team invite link” in the admin console. It works for 7 days, up to 100 times. You can also invite from the desktop app.
Name your managers
Choose “Make manager” on the Members screen, and the bot DMs that person. Seats are the number of managers.
Choose the channels it reads
The bot joins public channels on its own. Switch off any you don't want read on the Channels screen. For a private channel, it starts reading once the channel's owner or an admin adds it.
Every day
Once you're named a manager, a brief arrives in your DM with the bot every morning.
Read the brief
On weekday mornings (08:00 to start), the brief arrives in your DM with the bot. Items you own come first, then blockers and deadlines within three days, then new decisions.
Sort with ✅ and ❌
React ✅ on finished items and ❌ on ones that don't concern you. ✅ marks it done for the whole company; ❌ hides it from your brief only.
Ask about what's on your mind
Write your question in your DM with the bot. Each answer comes with up to five source messages.
Fit it to your rhythm
Send “brief time 08:30” to change when it arrives. Send “pause” while you're away and “resume” when you're back. “brief now” sends one right away.
Reading an item
[Request] 1Tanaka2: Send the quote to A Corp (by Friday)3— #sales Sep 25, 10:324
- 1Type: request, commitment, deadline, decision, blocker, or question
- 2Owner (when known)
- 3Due date, as it was said (“by Friday”) or as a date
- 4The original message. Click it and the app opens that message
When the owner writes something like “sent it”, the item gets an “Is this done?” line. Open “reply” to check, and react ✅ if it's finished.
Asking good questions
- Names, channel names, and dates make answers more precise.
- Ask about one topic at a time. Short factual questions get the fastest answers.
- When it can't find sources, it says so. Open the sources before an important decision.
Example questions
For team members
Team members simply keep chatting as usual.
- Paste the invite link you received into “Join a community” in the Buzz desktop app.
- When the bot joins a channel, it posts one notice saying so.
- DM the bot “channels” to see which channels it reads.
- Briefs and questions are only for the people named as managers.
DM commands
Send just the command in your DM with the bot. Japanese and English both work.
| brief now | Sends a brief right away |
| brief time 08:30 | Changes the morning time |
| pause / resume | Stops or restarts the morning brief |
| channels | Shows the channels the bot reads |
| help | Shows how to use it |
Troubleshooting
My brief has no items
Briefs cover only channels the bot reads and you have joined. Join the channels you care about. New messages can take up to about 30 minutes to show up.
The bot doesn't answer my question
Ask in your 1:1 DM with the bot. It doesn't answer in group DMs or channels.
A link doesn't open the message
Links open inside the workspace that's open in the app. If another workspace is open, switch first.
Check before you start
- Chat runs on the Buzz desktop app (Windows / macOS). There is no mobile app or browser version yet.
- The app's menus and buttons are in English only.
- The Windows installer isn't code-signed, so Windows shows a warning during installation. Please check that your company PCs allow it.
- A lost app key can't be recovered. An admin replaces the member with a new key instead.
- There is no connection to Slack or other chat tools. The team's conversations move to Buzz.
We'll write to you before the service opens.
This is not the open service. It suits teams at companies of about 20–100 people who work on desktop PCs. Leave your email on the waitlist.
